Skógafoss

I had wanted to travel to Iceland for well over a decade, and finally in 2019, I had the opportunity to go with my family. The landscape is truly extraordinary and diverse, with waterfalls everywhere you look. This is one such waterfall, called Skógafoss, which is located on the Skógá River in southern Iceland.

Blue Seas

We had to pull over to the side of the road to take photos often, as the scenery was just too breathtaking to pass by. For example, while driving up the coast, this roadside lookout area with the beautiful blue water and soft cloud cover was quite the sight.

Geysir.jpg

Geysir

Geysir, located in the southwestern region of Iceland, is a popular spot to visit, as it is home to a large geyser that goes off every few minutes, sending water up to 30 feet in the air! However, this little geothermal pool immediately had my attention.

Basalt.jpg

Basalt

These are basalt columns on Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach on the southern coast of Iceland near Vík. These ones were found in a little cave, although there were stacks outside the cave lining the whole beach. The volcanic activity in Iceland over the years is fascinating and makes for a unique landscape that is difficult to find anywhere else on Earth.

Laveno.jpg

Laveno

This lovely little spot was the view from the restaurant patio of our accommodation in Laveno, Italy. The soft evening light of the setting sun over the water was truly unforgettable!

Garden Bench.jpg

Garden Bench

I don’t know why, but I love taking photos of empty benches. This one was in the Giardini di Villa Melzi in Bellagio, one of the finest gardens in Italy and a fantastic place for a stroll.

Hermitage

This is the Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso in the Lombardy region, one of the many wonderful sights of Lake Maggiore! Having the chance to kayak Italy’s lake district was certainly a gift and is something I will remember for a long time to come.
